The Dhaka Times Desk Saudi Arabia has extended the amnesty for illegal workers by another 30 days. The amnesty period has been extended for one month after June 25 i.e. till July 25.
It is known that the Saudi King has extended this period at the request of various organizations including heads of state, ministers, ambassadors, Saudi Ministry of Labor, Riyadh and Jeddah Chamber of Commerce.
It is known that the Saudi Press Agency gave this news by quoting Major General Sulaiman bin Abdulaziz Al-Yahia, the Director General of the country's Passport Department and Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif, the Minister of Interior.
It has been reported that illegal foreign workers who leave Saudi Arabia during this extended period will not face any jail or fine.
It should be noted that the Saudi authorities announced the general amnesty for the next 90 days on March 29.
More than 500,000 illegal immigrants have already left Saudi Arabia under amnesty, according to the country's media. The Bangladesh Embassy in Saudi Arabia said that 19,833 Bangladeshis without valid documents have already returned to the country under amnesty.
According to Saudi Arabian law, any illegal immigrant caught faces fines or penalties. The immigration office of the country has warned that if you do not return to the country after collecting the out pass and exit visa within the specified time, you may be fined 1 lakh Saudi Riyals and imprisoned for 2 years.
It is reported that those sentenced to a fine and 2 years imprisonment are fingerprinted before being sent back to the country, so that the person cannot go to work in Saudi Arabia in the future. On the other hand, those who take the opportunity of amnesty will have the opportunity to return home without any punishment. Moreover, their fingerprints will not be taken. That is why in the future they will have the opportunity to legally come to Saudi Arabia with work.
It should be noted that currently 13 lakh Bangladeshis are working in various professions in Saudi Arabia, out of which at least 60 thousand women are working in Saudi Arabia as domestic workers.
