Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem has been a subject of politics for thousands of years. Last week, Palestinian men under the age of 50 were banned from entering the mosque by Israel!

Masjid al-Aqsa which is called in Arabic: المسجد الاقصى‎ (Al-Aqsa Mosque or also known as Baitul Muqaddas).

It is located in the Old City of Jerusalem. Along with this mosque, the buildings named Qubbat As Sakhra, Qubbat As Silsila and Qubbat An Nabi are also located in the same premises. This mosque is a witness of history.

This mosque has been closed several times. It was reopened under pressure from the world Muslim community. This time, the country's police said, male Muslims under the age of 50 cannot enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque premises!

Recently, the Israeli police installed metal detectors in Al-Aqsa Mosque area under the pretext of strengthening security. This ban has been imposed due to the fear that there may be protests due to this.

A few days ago, after two policemen were killed by suspected Palestinian gunmen, Israel stopped Friday prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The mosque was then reopened in the face of protests from people around the world, including Palestinians, throughout the week.

Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest mosque in Islam. Currently, the Jewish state of Israel occupies this historic mosque. In 1969, they had once set fire to Al Aqsa Mosque.

এই পবিত্র মসজিদ হতেই রাসূল (সা.) উর্ধাকাশে তথা মেরাজ গমন করেছিলেন। মহান আল্লাহ রাব্বুল আলামিন এই সম্পর্কে বলেছেন, “সকল মহীমা তাঁর যিনি তাঁর বান্দাকে এক রাতে মসজিদুল হারাম হতে মসজিদুল আকসা পর্যন্ত ভ্রমণ করিয়েছিলেন; যার চতুর্পার্শ্বকে আমি বরকতময় করেছি। (এই ভ্রমণ করানোর উদ্দেশ্য হলো) যাতে আমি আমার নিদর্শন তাকে প্রদর্শন করি।” (সুরা বনী ইসরাইল: আয়াত ১)

This mosque has a lot of history. 40 years after the construction of the Kaaba by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS), Hazrat Yaqub (AS) built this Al Aqsa Mosque. Then in 1004 BC, Hazrat Sulaiman (a.s.) rebuilt this mosque. After the entire Baitul Moqaddas area came under Muslim control in 638 AD, the Muslim rulers renovated this mosque several times.

The area of this historical mosque is three and a half thousand square meters. 5 thousand Muslims can pray together in this mosque.
