The Dhaka Times Desk Government-funded film 'Chitkini' has been cleared without cuts. Produced by Yojana Productions and Impress Telefilm, this film is directed by Sajedul Awal.
Director Sajedul Awal said that the story of the film is about winter. Long shoots have been done in winter for several years. He went to Panchagarh Railway Station in 1983. It was then that he wrote the screenplay for Chitkini. In a sense it can be called his autobiographical story.
The story goes like this: Panchagarh railway station employee Kafil gets tuberculosis. The story of Chitkini revolves around the humane incident of Maimuna, a stonemason making an extreme silent sacrifice for Kafil.
Sajedul Awal also said that the way Malua's character is portrayed in Mymensingh lyricist 'Malua', in Chitkini Maimuna's character is portrayed exactly opposite. According to him, he actually composed 'Ultopala' in the film. Apart from directing the film, Sajedul Awal also wrote the story and screenplay.
Runa Khan, Bhaswar Bandyopadhyay, Aminur Rahman Mukul, Manas Bandyopadhyay, Mahmudul Islam Mithu, Rubli Chowdhury, Mustagisur Rahman Babu, Zahiruzzaman, Baul Raisuddin Sarkar, Sarkar Haider, Sajahan Baul, Mostak, child artist Apan and others acted in the film 'Chitkini'. In one part 'Malua' pala was performed by Kendua pala artiste Dilu Bayati and his troupe.
Director Sajedul Awal has dedicated the film to his two late friends filmmaker Tarek Masood and cinematographer Mishuk Munir. He said that the release date of the film will be announced soon.
