The Dhaka Times Desk The legendary actor of Bengali film Nayakraj Razzak has passed away. He was a bright star in the history of Bangladeshi film industry. His departure has created a painful situation in the film industry.
Fame, fortune, money—nothing is lacking. He has acted in many movies in his lifetime and won accolades. Some of his notable films include 'Rangbaaz', 'Neel Akashar Niche', 'Abujh Man', 'Jivan To Neena', 'Pich Dhala Path', 'Ki Je Kari', 'Unlearned', 'Holiday Bells', 'Bada Good Lok'. There were', 'Alor Mihil', 'Swarlipi' and numerous films including 'Baba Ken Chakar'.
The actor established 'Rajalakshmi Complex' in Uttara on an elite scale. This legendary actor was quite well with his wife and children at his home in Gulshan. He has brought himself to a successful and fulfilled life by his own merits.
His early life was not smooth at all. Razzaq was born in Kolkata. His father Akbar Hossain died suddenly in his youth. He also lost his mother 8 months after his father's death. But Razzak was growing well after overcoming all the grief and crisis. He continued to act in theater and films in Kolkata.
After seeing his performance, playwright Piyush Bose encouraged Kishore Razzak in many ways. Although he was not able to do much. Film industry is already established in Dhaka. Many advised Razzak to come to Dhaka. Piyush Bose wrote a testimonial about Razzak. Razzak decided to leave Kolkata and come to Dhaka with that certificate.
At that time Hindu-Muslim riots were going on in different parts of the subcontinent. From West Bengal, Bihar, Assam and Tripura, Muslims were crossing into what was then East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). Razzak also moved to Dhaka with his wife Lakshmi and infant son Bappa during the riots.
About the year 1964. He reached Dhaka on April 26. In a state without a pocket. There was no one who knew him in Dhaka. He only brought a letter from Piyush Bose and an address from director Abdul Jabbar Khan and sound engineer Moni Bose.
That day, leaving his wife and child in the crowd of hundreds of refugees in the stadium, Razzak went to meet director Abdul Jabbar Khan. He assured Razzak. Razzak later fixed a house in Kamalapur area for a monthly rent of 80 taka and moved in with his wife and son. Refugee Razzak was given shelter, but he had no means of earning a living. He wandered around the picture. Met several directors including Subhash Dutt, Syed Awal, Ehtesham. But nothing was working.
But human life never stops. After that director Abdul Jabbar Khan gave him a job opportunity in 'Iqbal Films' company. He worked as an assistant to director Kamal Ahmed in this company's film 'Ujala'. Razzak's second film as an assistant was 'Parwana'. However, he left the assistant's job after 80 percent of the film was completed. The reason is that Razzak came to be a hero. He wanted to stand in front of the camera, not as a person in the background. He wanted to find his name at the very beginning of the screen name.
In an interview with Lifetime, Razzaq said, 'I never forget the past of my life. I came to this city as a refugee. I have struggled for life. I have not eaten. That is why I have no greed for money. In a word, I have come so far in peace because it did not come.'
Ambition was always present in his life. The world of the silver screen was also full of money. But he was never blinded by the love of money. And that is why he was able to become Nayakraj from Razzaq. That's why he became a legendary actor to be emulated by everyone in this world. He is not with us today, but much of his work and life remains with us. He will remain in people's hearts forever.
