In Betagi of Barguna, heavy rains and accumulation of tidal water for the last two days have caused extensive damage to the crops. 10 thousand families are stuck due to water accumulation. Especially since there is no water drainage system in the municipal city, the people of the respective areas are not able to leave their houses due to the accumulation of water in wards 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. Even their kitchens and cowsheds have water. As a result, families are in trouble with livestock.
On the other hand, thousands of families have become waterlogged in Bagerhat's Morelganj, a coastal upazila due to incessant rain and tidal water rising 5-6 feet above normal. 400 hectares of paddy land and 175 hectares of paddy fields are under water.
The upazila fisheries department said that in Morelganj, 12 thousand 800 hectares of bagda and 512 hectares of land of lobster have been cultivated. Upazila Project Implementation Officer Md Ashraf Hossain said that at least 900 hectares of fish enclosures have been submerged in water. Apart from this, at least 25 villages including Sadar town of Morelganj upazila located on the banks of Panguchi river flowing through the upazila are being flooded by tidal water.
On the other hand, in Noakhali, 5 villages of Nijhum Island in Hatiar have been flooded due to continuous rains and tidal water breaking the embankment. 50 houses were destroyed, roads and crops were severely damaged. Apart from this, lower areas including Char Elahi of Companyganj have been flooded with tidal water. About 30,000 people have been trapped in water. Mehraj Uddin, Chairman of Nijhum Dwip Union, said that the relief has not arrived yet. On the other hand, Nangliar's Char, Nalerchar, Dhalchar, Caringchar, Charbasha's Hajajar Char and low-lying areas in the west of Tamruddin Union have also been flooded. Bhola: As a result of the tide, 19 villages of Charfashan upazila were flooded and lakhs of people are facing disaster. Thousands of acres of crops have been submerged under water. The situation is the same in the villages along Meghna Tentulia river in Bhola Sadar, Borhanuddin, Tajumuddin, Daulatkhan and Lalmohan upazilas.
