Tehran has the world's largest library!

The Dhaka Times Desk The way Iran is seen, this time proved to be quite an exception. Because the world's largest library has been built in Tehran! This huge library has been built with a total area of 100,000 square meters.

This huge library called Tehran Book Garden has been built in Tehran, the capital of Iran. This library is considered to be the largest library in the world. This huge library is built in the Abbasabad Hills, northeast of Tehran. The library has an art gallery and about 10 theaters and amphitheatres, along with an impressive display of books.

This library has a special section dedicated to children. Where children have textbooks. According to a report in Newsweek, there is a huge collection of 4 lakh books just for children!

This library in Tehran has a movie theater, science hall, classrooms, a restaurant and a prayer hall. There is a green park on the roof of the library for reading in a pleasant environment.

While inaugurating in July of this year, the mayor of Tehran Mohammad Bakar Kalibaf said, this library is a big cultural event for our country. We believe that children will grow up well by receiving these cultural and educational opportunities.

The first proposal to establish Tehran Book Garden came in 2004. The offer comes because of the skyrocketing popularity of the Tehran International Book Fair. Iran has faced criticism in the past for confiscating and banning various books. Iran's attitude seems to be changing recently, as evidenced by the establishment of this massive library.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei speaks to top publishers at the 2015 Tehran International Book Fair. It was then that the indications became clear that the Islamic Republic's publication regulations were about to be relaxed. In a report of The Financial Times, Hassan Rouhani's government has been widely praised for this reason.

According to Guinness World Records, the largest library in the world since 1999 is Barnes and Noble on Fifth Avenue in New York City. It is established with an area of about one lakh 54 thousand square feet. Where there are also self used for keeping books over a 12 mile long area. Tehran Book Garden is almost three times larger than this library in the United States. So this is considered as the largest library in the world.
