The price of a mango has risen to 33 thousand rupees! But this happened in Shivganj of Chapainawabganj which is known as the capital of mangoes.
Rajibul Islam Raju, Chairman of Durlabhpur Union of Shibganj Upazila, said that on the morning of Eid last Saturday, Imam Habibur Rahman of the Eidgah called after the Eid-ul-Azha prayer at Kalupur Madhyapara Eidgah Maidan of Durlabhpur Union after seeing a frozen mango hanging on the mango tree in the garden.
It is known that Ruhul Amin, the secretary of the Eidgah committee, said the price of the mango was one hundred taka. At one stage of the auction, the price of the mango stood at 24,000 taka. Soon after Mehrul Islam, the son of Johak Mondal and a prominent businessman of the area, raised the price, Zaheer Raihan, son of Fazlur Rahman of Kalopur Uttarpara, and Abdul Karim, son of Fazlu Biswas, raised the price of the mango at Tk 30,000. Later the Eidgah authority sold the mango to them. But after buying the mango, they donate it to the Eidgah. Then a person named Meherul Islam bought that mango for 3 thousand taka.
By selling that mango in two installments, the Eidgah authority got a total of 33 thousand taka. In that sense, the price of this mango stands at 33 thousand taka!
