The Dhaka Times Desk Bangladesh has also become this year's 'partner of the Nobel Prize'. This is because the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), a coalition of organizations campaigning for the abolition of nuclear weapons, won the Nobel Peace Prize this year. Bangladesh is also working within this alliance.

It is known that two organizations of Bangladesh are working with this alliance organization which operates in 101 countries. These two organizations are the Center for Bangladesh Studies (Bangladesh Adhyayan Kendra) and the other is Physicians for Social Responsibility.
About this, President of Physicians for Social Responsibility and Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Medical University and Professor Kamrul Hasan Khan said, 'Bangladesh has taken a step towards world peace through this award. On behalf of Bangladesh, I congratulate the Nobel Committee. The people of Bangladesh are united in the path of peace. We have proved that. Bangladesh will go further, he hoped.'
On the other hand, Arup Rahi, General Secretary of Center for Bangladesh Studies, said, 'Bangladesh Study Center has been associated with this organization since 2014. We stand against nuclear technology. We look critically at destructive practices. For Bangladesh, we were in non-aligned movement for peace. We have always stood against war in favor of peace. We wanted to tell the world that. We also want to learn from the global movement against nuclear weapons. We also have a publication called Why Nuclear Weapons Should Be Banned. That is our first work with that organization.'
It should be noted that after the announcement of the award, Arup Rahi wrote on Facebook, 'This year, the Nobel Peace Prize winner ICAN (International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons—ICAN) is a member of the Bangladesh Study Center. The Nobel Prize is not an undisputed prize. But for the sake of peace, there is no doubt that Icahn's Nobel award for a world free of nuclear weapons will have a positive impact on the global movement to make the world free of nuclear weapons.'
