The Dhaka Times Desk A novel approach has been adopted to prevent smoking. Non-smokers will get more vacations than smokers!
A Japanese company has made such an announcement. They said they would give more leave to non-smokers than smokers. The name of that company is 'PIALA Inc'. At the end of the year they will get an additional 6 days off. The company has decided to compensate non-smokers for the time spent on smoking cigarettes.
The company implemented this decision last September following complaints from non-smokers. Their complaint is that they work more than smokers.
Company spokesman Hirotaka Matsushima told the media that earlier this year, a non-smoking employee reported in a message left in the company's suggestion box that there were some problems with time spent smoking.
Matsushima also said that following that advice, the company's CEO Taka Asuka has decided to give an additional 6 days off at the end of the year for non-smokers. He also thinks it will be very helpful in quitting smoking.
The Tokyo-based company has taken the issue very seriously. Currently no one gets more than 15 minutes for a cigarette.
It should be noted that Japan has recently imposed several strict anti-smoking restrictions to reduce the number of smokers. Japan ranks very low among other countries in the world when it comes to taking drastic measures to stop smoking in public.
