The Supreme Court of India was scheduled to hear a writ petition filed by Felani's father and Human Rights Protection Mancha (Masoom) regarding Felani's murder. The hearing date was postponed three times.

The date of hearing of this case was fixed yesterday (Thursday). However, the date of hearing has been postponed by 3 weeks in view of the government's request for time. On the occasion of the case, Vice-President of Human Rights Protection Manch Masum Kiriti Roy appeared in Delhi. He told the media that the hearing has been postponed this time as well.

However, this time the court has postponed the hearing as the government sought time, he said. Previously, the hearing was supposed to be held on October 25 last year, but it did not happen.

On January 7, 2011, while crossing the border with her father, Felani, a Bangladeshi girl, was shot dead by BSF member Amiya Ghosh at the Anantapur border in Kurigram. Accused Amiya Ghosh was tried twice by BSF in its own court in the face of severe criticism at home and abroad. But Amiya Ghosh was acquitted both times.

Meanwhile, the National Human Rights Commission of India, in view of Masum's application, ruled that there was no justification for shooting the unarmed Felani. The commission ordered a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to Felani's family. However, the Ministry of Home Affairs of India did not obey that order. After that, Felani's father Nurul Islam Nuru and Human Rights Protection Manch appealed to the Supreme Court of India seeking justice and compensation for Felani's murder. They have also requested the CBI or an independent agency to investigate the murder.

The Supreme Court of India accepted the petition on 13 July 2015 and issued notices to the Government of India, the Government of West Bengal, the BSF and the CBI. As the court accepted the case, the petitioners expressed hope that they would get justice, but everyone is disappointed as the case has not been heard in the last one and a half years.
