Bengal's legendary actress Supriya Devi passed away on January 26. His career will be an inspiration and courage to film people. His popular film 'Chowrangi' is going to be remade to honor the legend. And Jaya Ahsan of Bangladesh is acting in it.
Nandit director Srijit Mukherjee will present the new film on the screens of Tollygunge. The title of the new film is yet to be finalised. Jaya Ahsan will play Supriya Devi's role which has only been finalised. That character's name is Karbi Guha. Prosenjit is supposed to play the role of 'Sata Bose' in the film played by Uttam Kumar.
Jesus Sengupta as Anindya Pakdashi, Mamata Shankar as Mrs. Pakdashi, Anjan Dutt as Marco Polo and Abir Chattopadhyay as Shankar.
Regarding the film, Jaya Ahsan said, 'This is the first time I am going to work in a remake film. It is a real honor and pride for me to get an opportunity to work in a role played by Supriya Devi. Although I have heard that this new film will be made based on the extract of the original 'Chowrangi'. Still, it feels great to work with an amazing unit in a film with a great script.'
The shooting of this film will begin from June. Through this film, director Sreejith's Matchcut Productions Pvt Ltd is coming into production with Sri Venkatosh Films for the first time.
It may be noted that Shankar's best-selling novel 'Chowrangi' was the first to introduce five-star hotels to Bengali readers at that time. This novel was the back story of some flesh and blood people behind that shiny hotel. The movie 'Chowrangi' was made in 1968 based on that novel.
