The Dhaka Times Desk Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra Father Dr. Ashok Chopra is no more. He passed away on Monday afternoon, June 10, after a long battle with cancer. He was suffering from cancer since 2005.
Priyanka's father Ashok Chopra died while undergoing treatment at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Andheri West, Mumbai. He breathed his last between 5 and 6 pm on Monday, June 10. Priyanka's mother, younger brother and family members were present at the time of death.
Ashok Chopra was diagnosed with cancer in 2005. From then on a specialist doctor and nurse stayed with him round the clock. Although he was quite healthy for some time, his condition deteriorated recently. Then he was admitted to the hospital. Sick Dr. Ashok was suffering from various complications and was kept on life support for days.
Meanwhile, Priyanka postponed all the film work due to her father's illness. He was by his father's side all the time. He is very broken by the death of his father. Even on Monday afternoon, Priyanka was holding her father's hand and chanting the Gayatri mantra to wish him well.
Despite being ill, Priyanka's father attended an award ceremony in Canada earlier this year. At that event, Priyanka won the best actress award for her phenomenal performance in the role of a disabled girl in the film 'Barfi'.
Meanwhile, after the news of Priyanka's father's death spread, many Bollywood people expressed their grief on Twitter.
Director Vishal Dadlani said, ' I am very disappointed. Love and best wishes to Priyanka Chopra and her family.‘
Actress Bipasa Bose said, 'Praying that Priyanka and her family can be patient.‘
Notably, Priyanka's father Ashok Chopra was a physician in the Indian Army. He retired in 1997.
