This love letter was written 120 years ago. It was written by Induprabha Chowdhury, the princess of Dighapati. 285 such letters kept in secret were found in a keyless trunk of Natore district administration treasury.
It is known that not only the love letters were found in the treasury recovered on Monday, but the manuscripts of his unpublished poetry books, pictures bound in silver frames, diaries, and many other things including the princess's pen used for writing in the ancient way!
It should be noted that it was the residence of the Maharajas of Dighapatia built in the eighteenth century. Dayaram Roy (1680-1760) was the founder of this dynasty. The palace is located about 2.4 km from Nato town. After the zamindari system was abolished in 1956, this royal family migrated to India. Later in 1972, after declaring the Bangabandhu Rajbari as Uttara Ganobhaban, it was maintained by the Public Works Department. Recently, when there was a ruckus due to the secret cutting of mango trees from this Rajbari, the district administration took responsibility for the maintenance of the Rajbari in October last year.
Then the district administration started searching for the memorials of the king of Dighapati. The ark was recovered by raiding the area. The name of Rajkumari Induprabha is written on a trunk in the district administration treasury. In that treasury can be found precious stone-cut king's crown, lace robes, ivory-handled knives, precious stone-cut royal tableware and some other items.
There is also a picture in a silver frame. While searching for the identity of the picture, the frame was opened and it was found that the name of Princess Induprabha was hidden in the frame. Princess Induprabha was the daughter of the fourth man of the dynasty, Pramathanath. 10 handwritten diaries of Indu were also taken out from that trunk. One of these contains only poetry while the others contain his autobiography. Mahendra Narayan Chowdhury wrote 285 letters to Indu before and after marriage. At the end of each letter is written, 'Yours Mahendra'. Indu is addressed as 'beloved'. Letters from almost 120 years ago are still readable with ease.
