Recently, a family in the United States claimed compensation for being bitten by a cockroach. Last Monday, the court ordered the family to pay 1.6 million dollars in compensation.
The incident began in 2012 in Inglewood, California. Liliana Martinez and her husband bought a new apartment there in 2010. One day in 2012, he suddenly noticed that his three-year-old son, George Maravilla, had red spots all over his body, including his face. When he went to the hospital, the doctors advised him to search the house. There he discovered the beetle. He said that even his 3-month-old daughter was not spared from the cockroaches.
Despite repeatedly informing the authorities, he appeared in court without getting any remedy. Liliana Martinez was forced to file a lawsuit.
Liliana's lawyer, Brian Virag, said the court ordered the apartment authority to pay $1.593 million in damages to Liliana's family in this case.
