The Dhaka Times Desk Nowadays computers are used in almost every work. And to speed up this task, the function keys give you another advantage. But many of us don't know the actual usage of these function keys.

The computer has a total of 12 function keys F1 to F12. Each of which has a different function. So let's know the correct usage of function keys.

Usage of F1:

F1 is a key that is commonly used as a helper key. Pressing this key while running any program will open that program's help window. From there you will know about that program.

Usage of F2:

F2 is used to rename a file or folder. By selecting the file or folder you want to rename, pressing this key allows you to rename that file or folder. You can open a new document by pressing Alt+Ctrl+F2 in Microsoft Word. Pressing Ctrl+F2 in print field will show you print preview.

Usage of F3:

F3 is usually used to launch the search option. When you press this key, a search window will appear, where you can search as you wish. Other programs may also offer you this opportunity.

Usage of F4:

Using this key you can redo the last task in Microsoft Word. You can use Alt+F4 to close all running programs on your computer at once. You can also close all open windows on your computer by pressing Ctrl+F4.

Usage of F5:

The most used function key on a computer is F5. Because everyone can easily refresh the computer with this key. This key is used to refresh the web browser's page. Pressing this key in Microsoft PowerPoint will start a slide show. If you press this key in Microsoft Word, you will find the “Find, Replace, Go To” menu.

Use of F6 :

It moves the mouse cursor to the address bar of the web browser. Pressing Ctrl +Shift +F6 activates another document open in Word.

Usage of F7:

You can turn “Create Browsing” on and off by pressing this key while using the Mozilla Firefox browser. If you press this key in Microsoft Word, the program will check the “Spelling and Grammars” of your writing. If you press Shift+F7 then a “Research Menu” will appear on the right side of Microsoft Word.

Usage of F8:

If you want to enter your computer in “Safe Mode” when you turn on the computer then you need to press this key.

Usage of F9:

Quark Express 5.0's Measurement Toolbar can be opened with this key.

Usage of F10:

When this key is pressed, it will find the menu bar of the program or window you are running. If you press Shift+F10, it will act as your right mouse button. F10 key will give you access to Hidden recovery partition. (For HP & Sony computers only).

Usage of F11:

You can use this key to put your browser in fullscreen mode. By pressing Ctrl+F11 key you will get access to Hidden Recovery Partition. (Applicable to Dell computers).

Usage of F12:

: Press this key to open the Save as window of Word. Microsoft Word file is saved by pressing Shift +F12. And press Ctrl+Shift +F12 to print word file.
