Saudi Arabia not obligated to protect Palestinians: former military commander

The Dhaka Times Desk Former military commander of Saudi Arabia, General Anwar Eshqi, said that Saudi Arabia is not obliged to protect Palestinians in the face of Israeli occupation.

At the same time, the former military commander of Saudi Arabia also said that Saudi Arabia should conduct a military campaign against Iran, not Israel.

Anwar Eshki is currently serving as the Chairman of the 'Middle East Center for Strategic and Legal Studies' in Saudi Arabia.

In an interview given to the BBC Arabic section on Thursday, General Anwar Eshqi said that Saudi Arabia has no additional responsibility to protect the Palestinians.

He also said that since Palestinians are not Saudi citizens, they have no right to protection from Riyadh.

Anwar Eshki says, 'If your house and your neighbour's house are on fire, you will naturally run to put out your own house.'

Denying Saudi Arabia's historical responsibility to protect Palestinians, Anwar Eshki said, "The reality is that Israel has never invaded Saudi Arabia." That is why there is no question of Saudi Arabia's response against Tel Aviv.

This Saudi official also said in defense of Israel, "Israel is considered a mere suspected enemy."

This Saudi Arabian official blamed Iran for the regional conflict and said that Saudi Arabia should conduct military operations against Iran and not against Israel.

It should be noted that General Eshki said these things when Saudi Arabia's relations with the Zionist state of Israel are apparently close. General Eshki has visited Israel several times in recent months and has since spoken out in favor of anti-Muslim Israel.
