Ramadan is the holiest month for Muslims. But not only this month of Ramadan, Muslims also fast on various religious days. Similarly, other religions also have provisions for fasting. Apart from Islam, there are various forms of fasting found in some other religions.
Fasting or Ramadan in Islam
According to the rules of Islam, Muslims fast for 29 or 30 days (depending on the sighting of the moon) in the month of Ramadan every year. This month is a holy month for Islam. Because the world's greatest scripture Al-Qur'an was revealed in this month. However, apart from fasting in Ramadan, there are rules for fasting on various religious days including Holy Shabarat, Shavemeraj. From Subhesadiq (Fajr) to Maghrib, one has to completely abstain from food and drink during this time. Then in the evening, Ramadan ends with Iftar during the Maghrib call to prayer. Thus, a whole month has been considered as an obligatory order for every Muslim for many ages.
Christianity and fasting
Christians mainly fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Besides, they refrain from eating meat on Fridays for about 40 days before Easter Sunday.
Hinduism and Fasting (Upas)
It is said in the Hindu scripture Vedas that one should fast on the Ekadashi day of the lunar month. Only water can be drunk during this time. As such, there is a custom of fasting twice a month in Hinduism.
Fasting in Buddhism
Almost all sects of Buddhism prescribe fasting. Mainly they fast on full moon days and other religious days.
Fasting in Judaism

Mormons are members of the Christian reformist Latter Day Saint movement. They fast on the first Sunday of every month.

The Baha'i religion is the religion founded by Baha'u'llah in Iran and the Middle East. Baha'is fast during the 19th month of their calendar (March 2 to 20).
