The largest mosque in Istanbul is the historic Sultan Suleiman Mosque. Sinan started the construction of this mosque in 1550 on the order of Sultan Suleiman, and the work was completed in 1557.
Sinan used the half-dome concept of the Byzantine church Hagia Sophia and applied it to the architecture of this mosque. The minarets of the mosque are like pencils. It also has numerous small and large domes. The interior style of Sultan Suleiman Mosque is also very beautiful. Many bells have been used inside the pillars and walls to control noise. It is a symbol of the Ottoman Empire.
