According to the announcement of the government, a model mosque and Islamic cultural practice center are being built in Natore at a cost of 100 crores. The cost of construction of each mosque has been estimated at 13 crore 41 taka.
This project is being implemented by the Public Works Department of NATO. Meanwhile tender work for construction of 6 out of 8 model mosques and Islamic cultural practice center has also been completed.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs announced the construction of 560 model mosques and Islamic cultural practice centers in every district and upazila. According to this announcement, the construction work project of model mosque and Islamic cultural practice center was taken up in Natore district headquarters and 7 upazilas. The total cost of this project is estimated to be around Tk 110 crore.
It is reported that each model mosque and Islamic cultural practice center will be built on 43 percent of the land. The 12,000 square feet ground floor will have car parking, imam training center, dining, public education office, autism corner and body bath.
In addition, the 7,800-square-foot two-storey building will house the prayer space as well as the Islamic Research Center and the Islamic Foundation office. On the third floor of the same size, there are separate prayer rooms for men and women, meeting rooms and libraries. Each mosque has a 90 feet high minaret and 4 domes.
According to the Public Works Department, it has already completed the work of inviting tenders for 6 mosques. The construction work of Singra Upazila Model Mosque and Islamic Cultural Center in front of Baraigram, Lalpur and Bagatipara and Municipality has also started in the places adjacent to the respective Upazila Parishads.
