The Dhaka Times Desk Known as the children's Oscar, Sisimpur, a popular children's show created for Bangladeshi children, won the globally acclaimed KidScreen Award.
Sisimpur (for the 13th season) won the best award in the 'Best Mixed Media Series' category beating all the best children's TV series in the world.
The 14th Kidscreen Awards were presented yesterday (July 20) in a grand ceremony held in Miami, USA. Netflix, Cartoon Network, BBC, Fox Media, Warner Bros. Animation, Nickelodeon, ByJuice, PBS Kids, DreamWorks Animation, all the world-renowned children's program production companies participated in this competition.
The KidScreen Awards recognize the best series, animated film, and live action programs for children and families from around the world in various categories.
Note that in 2010, Sisimpur was selected as the best children's program and the third most popular program overall in a survey conducted by the BBC World Service Trust. Since 2005, the Bangladeshi version of Sesame Street 'Sisimpur' has been working with the aim of 'Let children become more accomplished, more strong and more kind' under the pre-primary child development programme.
Since its inception, this popular children's series has been produced with the financial support of 'USAID Bangladesh'. The production partner of Sisemi Workshop Bangladesh in the construction of Sisimpur is Dhvani-Chitra Limited.
