The Dhaka Times Desk A legal notice has been issued seeking a ban on the screening of the movie 'Hawa', alleging violation of the Wildlife Conservation and Safety Act.
Bangladesh Film Censor Board Chairman, Information Ministry Secretary. Maqbul Hossain and Vice Chairman of the Censor Board. This notice has been sent to Saifullah. Supreme Court lawyer Khandaker Hasan Shahriar sent this notice on Monday (August 22).
According to the notice, in the movie 'Hawa' directed by Mezbaur Rahman Sumon, which was released in the theaters of the country on July 29 after receiving the clearance from the Censor Board, the Shalik bird was seen imprisoned in a cage on a trawler. At one point it is shown killing and eating it.
The movie 'Hawa' contains several scenes - which are in clear violation of the Wildlife Conservation and Protection Act, 2012. Such wildlife crimes will encourage common people to hunt, cage and kill birds for consumption. No permission was taken from the forest department to capture this scene. Scenes of killing and eating wild animals may make people think that it can be done. They may even be encouraged by them. As the scenes of smoking in dramas are written that it is injurious to health, there was no such message in that part of the movie 'Hawa'.
In the meantime, four officers of the wildlife crime unit have filed a case in the learned court on August 17 after seeing the movie 'Hawa' and finding the violation of Sections 38(1), 38(2), 40 and 46 of the Wildlife Conservation and Safety Act-2012.
Moreover, there are several murder scenes in the movie 'Hawa', which are very gruesome and full of violence. Moreover, in the whole 'Hawa' movie, the female characters are portrayed as negative and numerous obscenities are used. Which should never be seen by family members, especially minors. Children, adolescents and young people can be greatly affected by such activities. Which will also have a negative impact on the society. However, in the movie 'Hawa', there is no mention of the word 'Not allowed to see minors'. This type of film will create a negative perception of Bangladesh if it is propagated, broadcast and screened not only in Bangladesh but also outside the world.
The notice also said that although the film 'Hawa' contains violent murder scenes, obscene language and wildlife conservation and safety Act-2012, Sections 38(1), 38(2), 40 and 46 are violated, the Bangladesh Film Censor Board members director Mejbaur Rahman. Suman was not asked to cut the controversial scenes from the movie Hawa or to redact the law-breaking scenes. Rather, by irresponsibly giving the license to the movie, Hawa has committed the same crime by violating the prevailing laws of Bangladesh and encouraging it to create a negative impact on the society.
Therefore, within 7 days of receiving the notice, cancel the license of the movie Hawa and declare a complete ban on publicity, broadcast and exhibition in Bangladesh and outside Bangladesh, and reconstitute the Censor Board to include members of the wildlife crime unit, lawyers and environmentalists as members of the Censor Board. At the same time, before giving permission to any movie in future, it is asked to pay special attention to ensure that the movie does not contain violent murder scenes, obscene language and any clause of the Wildlife Conservation and Safety Act-2012.
