He also received several missed calls that day between 7pm and 8.45pm local time. Answers some calls and ignores some calls. Then he gets a transaction message.
He also received multiple messages about the transaction almost simultaneously. In the meantime, all that was to be destroyed has already happened. 50 lakh was withdrawn from the person's current account. Without OTP (one time password) this incident is done only by missed call.
Cyber Crime Unit of Delhi Police started investigation in this matter. Initially they think that the accused in this case are residents of Jamtara area of Jharkhand. Even earlier, such allegations have been made against many people in that area.
In fact, the investigating police officers suspect that SIMs were swapped in this incident. At the time of money transfer, the accused keep the OTP on the phone. At that time the accused criminals in the parallel call also heard the OTPO through the IVR. The accused somehow got access to the SIM card of the person who was in Delhi.
Investigating officials suspect that the accused have also procured a duplicate SIM for the mobile phone number linked to the customer's bank account. In such transactions, the accused use the OTP received on the fake SIM.
In these cases, the accused usually collect personal information from customers by pretending to be telephone or mobile network staff. They learn detailed information about the customer by showing the lure of the offer.
In this case, experts have advised never to share SIM card information as a precaution. Any mobile phone subscriber should also be careful about network access on his mobile. If there is no mobile network on the regular phone, the mobile operator should be contacted immediately.
