The Dhaka Times Desk Bangladesh Association of Software Information Services (BASIS) wants to award the best report of the information technology sector nationally from next October.
This announcement was made by BASIS president Russell T Ahmed at an iftar and exchange meeting with journalists at a hotel in the capital on Saturday. On the occasion, 'BASIS SoftExpo 2023 Best Reporting Awards' was also presented as an initiative of BASIS to inspire the professional work of journalists. A total of 9 reporters were given this award in 3 categories.
The names of the award winners were announced at the event attended by hundreds of media persons and guests. The winners in the three categories are – Bangla Tribune senior staff reporter Hitler A Halim won the first prize in the online media category, Imdadul Haque the executive editor of DigiBanglatek.News got the second prize and Badal Khan, the reporter of Prothom Alo got the third prize.
Channel 24's staff reporter Morsalin Junaid got the first prize in the electronic media category, Shubo Khan, the staff reporter of Saham TV got the second prize and HM Souza, the producer of Now TV got the third prize.
In the print media category, Mahmudul Hasan of The Daily Star got the first prize, Md Kaushar Uddin, Senior Staff Reporter of Dainik Sangbad, got the second prize and Rahitul Islam, reporter of Dainik Prothom Alo, got the third prize.
On the occasion, BASIS President Russell T Ahmed presented the awards to the winners and said, “Journalists play a leading role in the development of the IT sector in the country. Basis wants to give some inspiration to the great professional responsibility of journalists despite our limitations. As a part of this, for the first time, an initiative has been taken to give 'Basis SoftExpo Best Reporting Awards'.
Also, we would like to award the best report in IT sector every year nationally from next October.”
