The 25-year-old player was caught cheating late in the tournament. The young man named Stanley Omondi confessed to his fraud and said that due to financial pressure, he was forced to choose the path of this fraud.
According to the BBC report, the young man was able to hide his identity by wearing a burqa and glasses. He registered as Stanley Omondi Millicent Ore in this tournament. According to Chase.com, the organizers were hesitant to question him at first.
After the fourth round of the tournament, they decided to investigate. He was then taken to a room and asked for his identity. University student Omondi admitted to concealing his identity due to financial crisis there.
In the letter, Omondi wrote that, 'economic crisis is behind my fraud. But I am sincerely sorry for such actions. I am ready to accept any consequences.'
Omondi was later disqualified from the tournament and points from matches he had won were awarded to the losing contestants.
