The Dhaka Times Desk Anwar Hossain played the role of Nawab Siraj in Bengali film Nawab Sirajuddaula He is gone forever. (Innalillahi wa Inna Ilahi Rajiun.) He was associated with Bengali films for more than half a century in his life. He was suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure and various age-related diseases before his death.
Dr. Anwar Hossain's supervising doctor at Square Hospital. Mirza Nazimuddin confirmed to reporters, "He died around 2:30 am." At night, the body of this talented actor was kept in the freezer. He was under treatment in ICU Unit 2 at Square Hospital.
Earlier, Anwar Hossain was admitted to the hospital when he fell ill on August 18. After various tests, the doctors suspected the presence of gallstones in his gall bladder, but as he was not physically fit for surgery, Anwar Hussain was being kept alive with saline for the time being.
Last Thursday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited Anwar Hossain at the hospital, during which she donated Tk 10 lakh to his family to cover the medical expenses.
Anwar Hossain's first film was director Mohiuddin's "Tomar Amar." Then act one by one – taken from life, Glass Wall, Invincible, Shaheed Titumir, Parashmani, Pink is now on the train etc. in notable films. However, Anwar Hossain was awarded the title of the uncrowned emperor of Bengali films by playing the title role in the film Nawab Sirajuddaula.
In 2010, he received a lifetime award at the National Film Award. He was 82 years old at the time of his death.
