The death of veteran journalist Mahbubul Alam is a shadow of mourning

The death of Mahbubul Alam has cast a shadow of mourning across the world. As his physical condition deteriorated, he was placed on life support in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Bardem Hospital on Thursday.

Mahbubul Alam retired on October 19 last year after serving as the editor of The Independent newspaper for 18 years. He was then appointed as an advisor to the Beximco Group. Mahbubul Alam was also Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Bangladesh News Agency (BASS). In 2007, he served as Information Advisor to the Caretaker Government led by Yazuddin Ahmed.
