The picture you are looking at is a picture of the traditional Shahi Jame Mosque in Kaliganj. Prabajpur Shahi Masjid in Kaliganj Upazila of Satkhira District is one such Muslim achievement and historical monument.
A common story about this mosque is that the jinn built the mosque overnight by clearing the forest. There is also a popular rumor that if someone comes to this mosque and makes a vow, it does not fail.
Kaliganj upazila is located 40 miles south of Satkhira district. Prabajpur is a historical place of Mathureshpur union of this upazila. According to archaeologists, in 1104 Hijri on 24 May 1693 AD, Emperor Aurangzeb ordered Subedar Parbaz Khan to build a mosque in this area for his guarded Muslim soldiers to offer five daily prayers. After receiving this instruction, he built a single-domed mosque in this area. The village where his soldiers stayed was named Prabajpur village after him. Later after the construction of the mosque, the mosque was also named Prabaj Shahi Masjid after him.
The history of Satkhira district is very old. And so this oldest mosque has stood the test of time.
