The Dhaka Times Desk Hundreds of strangled corpses have been recovered from a Boko Haram town in Nigeria. The bodies were recovered by the army of Niger and Chad.
Niger and Chadian armies have recovered hundreds of bodies outside the newly liberated Nigerian city of Damascus from Boko Haram in Nigeria. On March 21, Niger and Chad troops recaptured Damasak in Borno state. About a month ago, this city was taken over by the militant group Boko Haram, active in West Africa.
Chadian military spokesman Col. Azem Bermandoa Agouna told international media that hundreds of bodies were scattered under a bridge outside the city. Most of these bodies were strangled. International media reported that the bodies were recovered after the militants were driven out of the city. It is believed that the victims were killed not too long ago. Many of the corpses were mummified due to the dry air of the desert, according to media reports.
