An unexpected incident happened at a McDonald's restaurant in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, last Wednesday.
According to media reports, a security guard at the restaurant stopped a woman while she was breastfeeding her baby.
The woman later wrote on Facebook that she asked a nurse before breastfeeding the baby. The waitress said, there is no problem. But after she started breastfeeding, a security guard told her what she was doing was unacceptable and tried to stop her breastfeeding twice in a row.
It is known, through Facebook and other social networking sites, this incident quickly spread across the city. The women of the city became vocal in protest. At one point, two days after the incident, a group of women took a position in the restaurant with their children to protest. Then, in front of everyone, they start breastfeeding each other's babies. When the matter spread in the city, several photographers also gathered.
After the incident, however, McDonald's authorities issued a statement saying, "There is no restriction on breastfeeding women in the 'family-friendly' restaurant." The statement further said that the matter is being investigated. Action will be taken against the guilty. The matter became international news.
