It is reported that most of the tunnels are 60 meters below the ground, which is about the same as a 20-story building. But the deepest point will be 80 meters. Which is said to be the deepest ever in the country. The tunnel will have 1,200 kilometers of high-voltage power cables. Which is 3 times the distance from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur.
The North-South Tunnel, East-West Tunnel and Jurong Island-Pioneer Tunnel were completed earlier this year. However, the cable installation will be completed in 2022. These cables will replace the old 8 circuits.
The north-south tunnel extends from Gambas to May Road. The east-west tunnel extends from Paya Lebar to Ayer Rajah. It is reported that the electricity generated from Jurong Island will be supplied through the 5 km long Jurong-Island Pioneer Tunnel.
