Atlas moths are known to be the largest moths in the world. The word Atlas in Greek means monster. The Atlas moth is thought to be so named for its shape.
These giant bird-like moths are commonly found in the jungles of Southeast Asia. It is considered to be the largest moth in the world in terms of wingspan. They are about an inch wide in the caterpillar stage. However, when they turn into full moths, their wingspan is up to 10 inches or 25 centimeters on average. There are more moths than butterflies in the world.
Many people call it a butterfly without recognizing it. But not the butterfly. As butterflies and moths look very similar, it is natural to make such a mistake. Atlas feathers are red in color. The two wings have a few white triangle shaped designs. The body color is red and striped.
The biggest surprise is the design of the upper corners of its two wings like the head of a terrible snake. It is as if the snake's face and eyes are clearly understood. At first someone might be scared to see it. Because its shape and structure is somewhat monstrous, although the main body is like a normal moth, it looks like that because of its wings.
