The Dhaka Times Desk Vocalist Asif Akbar has been arrested. He was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police in a case under the Information Technology Act.
Vocalist Asif Akbar was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Tuesday at 1.30 am in a case under Information Technology Act.
CID Special Superintendent of Police (SS) Molya Nazrul Islam told the media that he was arrested in a case filed by composer and vocalist Shafiq Tuhin at Tejgaon police station. This is case number 14. He will be handed over to the court. It is known that remand will be sought in the court.
The case was filed last Monday evening. Apart from Asif Akbar, unknown 4/5 people have been accused in that case.
According to the statement of the case, Shafiq Tuhin and other composers, lyricists and artistes' songs were sold through various channels without permission and earned huge sums of money dishonestly and fraudulently.
Shafiq Tuhin also mentioned in the statement that he gave a Facebook post on June 2 at 2:22 pm. He mentioned the incident of selling Asif's songs without permission. Under his post, Asif Akbar made lewd comments and threats from his own account. The next day at 9:59 PM, Asif Akbar went live on his verified Facebook page with nearly 3.2 million likes. From 22 minutes of the 54 minutes 34 seconds live video, made insulting, indecent and false statements against him. In the video, Asif Akbar said that he will punish him (Shafiq Tuhin) and said to the fans, you will fight him wherever you find him. On receiving this instruction, Asif Akbar's fans threatened to kill him on social media. Millions of people have seen this speech of Asif Akbar. He has provoked, thereby defamed him.
