Mohammad Ziauddin, the ambassador of Bangladesh to the United States, sat at the same table with President Donald Trump and had iftar and dinner. This time he exchanged greetings with President Trump and conveyed the wishes of the people of Bangladesh including Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
It is known that Donald Trump sat next to Vice President Mike Pence, Finance Minister Steven Mnuchin and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, Jordanian Ambassador Dina Kawar. Ambassadors from Arab countries included ambassadors from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Tunisia and Iraq.
Donald Trump opened the event by thanking the Muslim community in the United States. Trump said families and friends come together to celebrate peace at Iftar.
However, Muslim Americans protested outside during the ceremony. They complained that many national organizations working on the rights and dignity of Muslim-Americans were not invited to the iftar party.
Leaders of the Islamic Society of North America and the Council on American-Islamic Relations strongly criticized the event, saying it had more foreign delegates than American Muslims.
