Vladimir Putin has said that modern weapons have increased Russia's military capabilities several times. Some of our weapons systems are years or decades ahead of rival nations.
The Russian president cited as an example his country's 'Avangard' hypersonic missile, which travels 20 times faster than sound. Putin said that the missile can change direction and altitude in the atmosphere while moving towards the target, making it completely impervious or undetectable to any missile defense or air defense system.
The Russian president also mentioned his country's new intercontinental ballistic missile capable of carrying more than 10 nuclear warheads and weighing 220 tons, capable of striking anywhere in the world. Named 'Sarmat', this missile is more powerful than the Soviet era Russian intercontinental ballistic missile called 'Voyvoda'. The Voivoda is considered to be the most powerful intercontinental ballistic missile in the world and is called the Satan in the West.
