After 11 people were found dead mysteriously inside a house in Delhi's Burari area, the police started investigating the incident. After investigation, police sources said that a male member of the family instigated the mass suicide.
Delhi Police said, from the evidence found, they themselves did not believe that they might die. They believed that God will protect them!
Last Sunday morning, the police found the bodies of almost all of the Bhatia family in Delhi hanging. The death of so many members of one family together has created a sensation all over India.
The police there verified the details of the post-mortem and a bunch of handwritten notes found in the house.
According to the police, 77-year-old Narayan Devi's son Lalit Bhatia is believed to have led everyone to this mass suicide.
At first, it was believed that Narayan Devi had been strangled to death. However, the autopsy report said that he also committed suicide by hanging. Besides, no signs of beating were found on the bodies.
According to the information found in the two house note books recovered from that house, the police said that some members of the family helped others to hang themselves. The condition in which they were found also matched the description written in the note book.
All of them were found with their faces almost completely covered, their mouths taped shut and their hands tied behind their backs.
The notes in the notebooks said, everyone would tie their own hands and when the action was over, everyone would help everyone else to untie their hands. Not only that, but the date of the incident was also planned, the investigating police also found precedents.
It is learned that Narayan Devi is referred to as Bibi in the notes. A scarf and a belt were also lying on the bed next to her body.
Police suspect that someone strangled him and left him like that after he died.
Along with Narayan Devi, the others who died are Narayan Devi's daughter Pratibha (57), his daughter Priyanka (33), Narayan Devi's two sons Bhavnesh Bhatia (50) and Lalit Bhatia (45), Bhavnesh's wife Savita (48) and their three children Minu. (23), Nidhi (25) and Dhruv (15) with Lalit's wife Tina (42) and their son Shivam (15).
Police learned that 45-year-old Lalit Bhatia used to hallucinate his father Gopal Das, who died 10 years ago.
Lalit Bhatia believed that her father wanted to lead their entire family to the path of salvation. Since 2015, he has been writing instructions on that matter. Lalit told his family that he was receiving regular messages from his father.
One of the notes reads - I will come tomorrow or the day after. If I don't come, I will come later. Don't worry about Lalit, she is excited when I come.
Among the dead was Priyanka's engagement on June 17. He was supposed to get married later this year. The police believe that no religious guru had a role in this suicide incident. But this family was full of superstitions. They believed that the time of destruction of the world had arrived.
Police said Lalit had taken a vow of silence. That is why he used to write notes and communicate with others. He did not even speak to the customers who came to their grocery store. All in all, the police have so far blamed the suicide incident on superstition. However, the police continued to investigate.
