Jamkaran Mosque is the famous mosque in Qom, Iran. This mosque is located near Jamkaran village, 6 km from the religious city of Qom. In the past this mosque was better known as 'Kadamgah' mosque. Later it was gradually named Jamkaran Masjid due to its proximity to Jamkaran village.
It is known that this mosque is also called 'Sahebuzzaman Mosque' because it is related to the 12th Imam of Shia Madhhab, Imam Mahdi (A.S.). It has also been said in some prophecies that after the advent of Imam Mahdi (a.s.), this mosque was one of the centers of his administration.
According to history, famous social worker of Iran Sayyed Mohammad Aghazadeh rebuilt the Jamkaran Mosque in 1955. During the reconstruction of the mosque, a hall 17 meters long and 4 meters wide was built on 6 pillars in its southern courtyard. In fact this was the main gate of the mosque. An inscription was attached to the mosque at that time. It mentioned the date of previous reconstruction of the mosque. Earlier the mosque was rebuilt in 1753. That is, this mosque was built before that. Even today this inscription is preserved in Jamkaran Mosque.
There is also a hall 13 meters long and 4 meters wide in the eastern courtyard of this mosque. Seven color tiles are used to enhance the beauty of this hall. Here again the name of Syed Mohammad Aghazadeh who rebuilt the mosque in 1952 is recorded. All in all, it is a historical mosque.
