Because after the introduction of inter-city services, people do not board the train without buying a ticket. But still there is no end to the suffering of the public. Tickets are not available, tickets are sold to black marketers, trains do not arrive on time, etc.
After the government appointed veteran politician Suranjit Sen as the new railway minister, everyone thought that the railways would improve. But several months passed but no improvement was noticed till now. In the meantime, he said, the railways will be reorganized, the land occupied by the railways will be recovered, etc. We are still sitting on that hope. Already the news is out that the railway fare will be increased. It needs to be considered how reasonable it is to increase railway fares without increasing the quality of passenger services.
Delayed passengers are in trouble
The number of passengers is increasing day by day as train ticket prices are currently cheaper than buses. But delays are a daily occurrence. It is not very likely that the train leaves on time. Most of the time the train leaves late by 1/2 hour, sometimes even 4/5 hours. When asked about the reason for the delay, the Kamalapur Railway Station Master said that in most cases the train is delayed due to the line. Trains leaving from Dhaka towards the western region after crossing Tongi have to stop at one station and pass the other one through Joydevpur, Mirzapur, Tangail, Sirajganj, Ullapara, Baralbridge, Chatmohar, Ishwardi to Khulna or Joypurhat in any direction. Due to which almost every train is delayed throughout the day. Double line to avoid delay. For example, since Ishwardi Railway Junction to Khulna route has a double line from Ishwardi to Chuadanga Darshana, the delay is less.
Counter attacks happen often
Incidents of attacks on counters without getting tickets are happening from time to time. Because it is not possible to supply the number of passengers from a station to the ticket counter. A few months ago, Ishwardi beat up the station master at the railway station by a local MP for a ticket which was reported in various newspapers. Passengers attack the counter at Chittagong railway station almost every day without getting tickets. Recently, the glass of the first class ticket counter was broken by an angry passenger. At that time, a person named Jewel who came to collect the ticket was injured by a piece of glass from the counter. Later, the situation came under control with the intervention of senior officials. The day before, a student got into a fight with the booking clerk at the counter after not getting a ticket. It is learned that at around 11:30 am, passenger Jewel came to the first class counter for Mahanagar twilight train ticket. At that time he was informed that there was no ticket. The angry passenger asked Enayet Hossain and Shamim, the booking clerks on duty at the counter, to know the reason for not having tickets. They told Jewel that the tickets were sold out. But Jewel refuses to accept this. Repeatedly requested the booking clerks to give tickets. At one point, the passengers got angry when the two clerks told them that the tickets were running out. At this time, Jewel attacked the first class counter along with other passengers who came to collect tickets. The glass of the counter was broken. Jewel's body was cut by the shards of glass. Later, other passengers took the injured Jewel to manager Shamsul Alam's room. After the compromise between the two parties there, the situation became normal.
In this way one after another train passengers are suffering. Again it is heard that the ticket price will be increased. Increasing train ticket prices without ensuring passenger service is likely to backfire. Because the quality of passenger service must be improved to make railways more profitable.
