Barbed wire fences along the entire border. Even that did not stop the smuggling. Ignoring BSF firing, rubber bullets and beatings, many smuggle cows. Indian cows are being brought across the country by crossing the barbed wire fence and being lifted in bamboo lofts. Anyway after being smuggled it is 'legalized' with a corridor fee! Drug smugglers are also reckless in this opportunity. Various drugs including Phencidyl, alcohol and marijuana are being smuggled.
According to the BGB Battalion Headquarters, there are 17 BOPs in the total 83 km border covered by Chuadanga BGB. The distance from one BOP to another BOP is 5 to 8 km. Also, border communication depends on unpaved roads. There is a shortage of vehicles, lack of manpower. In addition, the lack of cooperation of the local people is creating problems in conducting the campaign. BGB has been holding at least 15 meetings every month to increase the awareness of the people in the border areas. For this, BGB expects the cooperation of all concerned.
Locals said that drug dealers in Gede area of West Bengal's Nadia district brought Phencidil in the train. Then it is stored in Gede and surrounding villages. After the BSF turned off the search lights at the border at 1 o'clock in the night, the drug dealers of the two countries sat inside the discussed local Kalabagan. As the night progressed, business gathered. There are also allegations that BSF members directly cooperated. The traders of this country bring the drug to the border villages of Chuadanga and then spread it all over the country including the capital Dhaka using trains, long-distance buses, cargo trucks, in some cases microbuses and private vehicles.
Cattle smuggling has increased at an alarming rate through the Benipur, Medinipur and Hariharnagar borders of Jibannagar upazila. At the same time, people going to bring cows are constantly being detained and tortured by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at those borders. Many are losing their lives in BSF firing. At least two such incidents have occurred in the last one month. BSF shot dead cattle trader. Still illegal cattle smuggling has not stopped. At Medinipur border of upazila, some smugglers are crossing the barbed wire at the risk of their lives (as seen in the picture).
When will the ruthless career end? How many types of business in the country are bringing cattle and livestock from India at the risk of life? Maybe no one can answer it correctly. But how long will these illegal businesses continue with the risk of life?
The main task of those who are engaged in security at the border is to keep a watchful eye to ensure that there is no smuggling across the border. Otherwise common people of this country will continue to die in the hands of BSF one after another. This is not desirable to anyone.
