The Dhaka Times Desk Popular TV actress Opi Karim is acting in a film after almost 15 years. Opi Karim will be seen in the film 'Debris of Desire' which is a joint production of two Bengali.
He is currently in Kolkata to shoot for this film. The screenplay is based on two short stories 'Vishakt Prem' and 'Subala' by fiction writer Manik Banerjee.
According to media reports, Api's character in the film is called Soma. She is a Kolkata girl. Soma is married. She lives with her husband and only child. But the husband is unemployed. That's why Soma has to work to teach the child in English medium. After finishing in Kolkata, some parts of the film will be shot in Dhaka.
It is to be noted that in 2004 the film 'Bachelor' directed by Mustafa Sarayar Farooqui was OP Karim's first film. After that, he was not found on the big screen. He is returning to films again with 'Debri of Desire'.
A popular actor from Kolkata is playing the role of Api's husband in this film. However, his name and the list of other actors will be revealed soon, according to the source of the production company. The film was the first to be approved under the new policy of joint production.
The film 'Debri of Desire' is directed by Indranil Roy Chowdhury, a popular filmmaker from Kolkata. Bangladeshi filmmaker Jaseem Ahmed is jointly producing it with him. Initially, the Bengali name of this film has been given as 'Mayar Janjal'. But this will be changed later.
About bringing Manik Banerjee's short story in one frame, Indranil Roy Chowdhury and Jaseem Ahmed said, two different stories. But the screenplay is arranged in such a way that both the stories converge at the end.
It is to be noted that Indranil Roy Chowdhury came to direct in 2013 through the film 'Faring'. Then he directed two films 'A Bengali Ghost Gappo' and 'City of Love'. Popular Bangladeshi actress Jaya Ahsan was in these two.
On the other hand, Jaseem Ahmed got wide fame at home and abroad by directing 3 short films. These are 'Stain', 'A Pair of Sandals' and 'Chocolate'. Shorts International, known as the 'World Home of Short Movies', has signed a deal for the world release of all 3 of its films.
