The picture you are looking at is the historic Chawkbazar Shahi Mosque in the capital Dhaka. A Mughal era mosque located in Chawkbazar in the old Dhaka area of the capital Dhaka city.
Mughal Subedar Shaista Khan built this mosque in 1676 AD. This idea is derived from the inscriptions found in this mosque. This mosque is probably considered to be the oldest building or structure built on a raised platform in Bengal. Below the platform are several vaulted square and rectangular rooms. They also have vaulted roofs above their heads, the top of which is again parallel. It is believed that the rooms below the platforms of these mosques were used as accommodation for students and teachers of the madrasa, such buildings are called 'absik-madrasa-mosques'.
Originally the mosque had 3 domes. However, due to renovation and construction at various times, its original form is not seen much anymore. The interior design of the mosque was divided into 3 bays, with the middle bay being more square. But the side bays were rectangular. All 3 bays were topped by domes, the central dome being relatively large in size. The central mihrab of this mosque is octagonal, which remains the same after renovation in 2006. This mosque is considered as a heritage of old Dhaka.
