Dhaka Times Desk We have seen the potential of tourism in many places. It is sometimes on the beach or sometimes in the mountains or some thousand years old sightseeing place. But this time I heard about the possibility of exceptional tourism, that is, 100 km above sea level in space! There may be many people who want to travel in this space. But that requires a lot of money. Still, the number of such interested tourists is increasing day by day. As a result, space travel has the potential to become a commercially viable sector.
According to the news, some companies have already started manufacturing vehicles to fulfill this desire of tourists. One of these is Virgin Galactic. It is a company of British billionaire Richard Branson's Virgin Group. They are building a vehicle called 'Spaceship Two'. It is expected to take test flights later this year. And Virgin Galactic is planning to take tourists to space from next year 2013. The company said that about 500 people have already applied to them to go to space. And for this each tourist has to spend 2 lakh dollars. About one crore 65 lakhs in Bangladeshi taka. Spaceship 2 will go into space with a total of eight people including six tourists.
Apart from Virgin Galactic, another company called Zecor Aerospace is planning to build a two-seater rocket named 'Lynx'. You can go to space in this rocket for very less money. The amount in Bangladeshi Taka is about 80 lakhs.
A former NASA official, Alan Stern, told the news agency that space tourism could cease to exist within the next five years. However, space travel is still expensive. So many countries are not able to research it even if they want to. However, this cost is gradually decreasing. Because the competition between different companies is increasing. As a result, from now on, other countries will also be interested in researching space and sending scientists there, he thinks. Let's see how interested space travel enthusiasts are this time.
