O3B's satellite launch for cheap internet connectivity

The company is using cheaper MEO satellite instead of using expensive geostationary satellite. The company has already launched four satellites. The satellites were able to connect to the gateway located in Hawaii.

Geostationary satellites are useful for larger areas. Due to the high power of this type of satellite, the effect of high latency (High Latency) can cause problems in providing internet connection. On the other hand, MEO satellite has low power but does not cause any problem in internet connection due to low latency. Mainly using MEO the company has been able to reduce costs.

The company will launch four more satellites in September this year. Although this initiative seems ambitious to many, they have tech giants like Google on their side. A total budget of $1.3 billion has been proposed for the project for satellite launch and operating costs.
