To that end, the Thai government has also approved changes to the drug laws. A total of 10 countries, including the United States, Australia, and Belgium, have legalized marijuana so far. This time the name of Thailand was added to the legalization of cannabis.
According to an ABC news report, yesterday (Tuesday) Thailand's parliament has given permission in this regard by amending the 1979 Narcotics Control Act.
In the Southeast Asian country of Thailand, consuming cannabis to relieve physical pain and fatigue was a common practice in the country until the 1930s. Later in 1935, the consumption, transportation or marketing of cannabis was legally prohibited.
Note that Uruguay became the first country in December 2013 to legalize the production, consumption and sale of cannabis. In October of this year, Canada legalized the cultivation, consumption and sale of recreational marijuana. Although Portugal and the Netherlands do not legalize the use of marijuana, the country does not consider it a crime. Last September, South Africa's highest court legalized the use of marijuana by adults in private spaces. Recreational use of marijuana is legal in 9 US states. In addition, medical use is considered legal in many other states.
