According to an interview given to Reuters by 28-year-old Park Hye-ri, she works so much every day that it makes her life unbearable. So he spent 90 dollars and accepted imprisonment in this jail for 24 hours. People of various ages are voluntarily incarcerated in this prison called 'Prison Inside Me' located in Hongcheon area of northeastern South Korea. The main purpose of taking this confinement is to keep oneself from fatigue and sadness for some time.
Here, starting from school-college students, men and women of almost all ages are living as prisoners. Here no one is giving orders, there is no pressure of work. Although prison life is accepted here voluntarily in return for a certain amount of money, this prison life is very difficult. There is no opportunity to meet and talk with other prisoners. Meals include jauvat in the morning, boiled sweet potato and banana shake in the afternoon. Use of any electronic device is strictly prohibited. There is no comfortable bed to sleep on, so one has to sleep on the floor. There is a small toilet inside the room, but there is no mirror in that toilet.
The co-founder of this prison, Noh Ji-Hyang, said that she got the plan for this fake prison from her husband. He worked about 100 hours per week as a prosecutor. He often said it would be good for him to go to solitary confinement for a week to rest. Increasing reliance on technology in South Korea is creating massive competition among all. As a result, they are under a lot of stress. Due to this high competition and stress, sometimes some people commit suicide.
According to a survey by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, South Koreans work an average of 2,024 hours per year. They work the hardest after the people of Mexico and Costa Rica. After a few days of this prison life, when they return to their work, they say that this prison is not really a prison, but the real prison is their busy life.
