The Dhaka Times Desk On Saturday evening, the moon of the month of Shaban was not seen anywhere in the sky of the country. That is why 30 days of Rajab month will be completed on Sunday. The counting of the days of the month of Shaban will start from next Monday. Accordingly, the holy Shabbat will be celebrated on the night of April 21 (Sunday).
This decision was taken in the meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee at Baitul Mukarram Islamic Foundation hall today (Saturday) evening. The meeting was chaired by the Minister of State for Religious Affairs, Sheikh Md. Abdullah
Shabbat will be celebrated on the 15th night of the month of Shaban (the night before the 14th day of Shaban). As such, the night before the next 21st April (Sunday) is Shabbat night. The day after Shabbat will be a public holiday in Bangladesh by executive order.
At the end of the month of Shaban, the month of Ramadan will begin with the joyous message of Eid, the biggest religious festival of Muslims.
In the meeting, the State Minister of Religion said that according to the information received from all district administrations, Islamic Foundation head offices, divisional and district offices, Bangladesh Meteorological Department, Space Research and Remote Sensing Center, no moon was seen in the sky of Bangladesh on Saturday in the month of Shaban of 1440 Hijri.
It is to be noted that Muslims of different countries including Bangladesh spend the auspicious night of Lailatul Barat, known as 'Bhagya Rajni', through Nafal Namaz, recitation of the Quran, and other forms of worship.
