President and Prime Minister mourn the death of Tele Samad

The Dhaka Times Desk President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of famous actor Tele Samad.

In a condolence message today, President Tele Samad expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death and said that the people of the country will remember his contribution to films and drama for a long time.

The President prayed for the repose of his departed soul and condoled with his bereaved family members.

Tele Samad passed away today (Saturday) afternoon at a hospital in the capital. He was 74 years old. He is survived by two sons, two daughters and countless relatives and well-wishers. He had been suffering from chronic diseases for the past few years. In 2017, he underwent bypass surgery in the United States.

Entered the film world in 1973 by acting as a comedian in the film 'Kar Bau'. He gained popularity through films like 'Nayanmani' and 'Paaye Chawan Path'. Apart from directing the music for the film 'Mana Pagla', he has also sung for over 50 film songs. Telesamad acted in 600 films in four decades.

Bangladesh Television cameraman Mustafa Mamun nicknamed him Telesamad. Since then he is known by this name. His last film 'Zero Degree' was released in 2015.
