The Dhaka Times Desk Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced that from now on Delhi women will be able to travel in government metro and buses for free. Aam Aadmi Party (UP) lost all 7 seats in the recent Lok Sabha elections.
Kejriwal said that implementing this decision will cost the Delhi government Rs 700 crore annually.
He also said that those who want to buy free tickets will have to accept subsidy. But many women are able to afford this transportation. So if those who can, buy tickets and don't subsidize themselves, then the rest can benefit well.
The Delhi Chief Minister also said that the government will bear all the transportation costs of women in Delhi Metro and public buses.
"Delhi is the only government, which is honest, spending your money on benefits," he said. Still making a profit.”
"Right now our awareness is about women's safety. Many questions have been raised about Metro. But we will keep you informed about every step of this proposal.”
It should be noted that since 2015 Arvind Kejriwal's party AAP has been in power in Delhi. They had to lose in each of the 7 seats in this year's Lok Sabha elections. BJP has won all the seats. Due to which UP may be in danger in next year's assembly elections, there is a possibility.
