The Dhaka Times Desk The government has decided to withdraw all cases filed by RAB against Limon Hossain, who lost his leg in the much-discussed shooting. Yesterday, the Ministry of Home Affairs informed about the withdrawal of the case.

One day Limon walked with two legs. He used to run with his friends. But a small incident made Limon's life miserable today. Even though he was innocent, he was treated like a criminal. And because of that he had to lose a leg. What can be more unfortunate than this in human life. Yet this is the solace Limon received, the state now realizes that what was done to him that day was completely wrong. He will have to pay the fee for the rest of his life.
The prominent people of the country think that the government should have decided on this long ago; But the government did not. By now the damage is done. However, they welcomed the government's understanding at the end.
Yesterday July 9 Home Minister Dr. Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir told reporters that it has been decided to withdraw all cases against Limon. Earlier, the police filed a charge sheet against Limon in two cases under the Arms Act and obstruction of government work. On July 1, the special tribunal of Jhalkathi ordered the trial of the arms case to begin. After many dramas surrounding Limon, the case was finally withdrawn. After this, Limon said in his response, 'Truth has finally won. I am happy that the false case has been withdrawn.'
When asked whether action will be taken against the RAB members responsible for the loss of Limon's leg after the withdrawal of the case, the Home Minister told reporters at the Secretariat yesterday, 'I don't think it is necessary to take the matter into consideration. In the condition in which the RAB found Limon and his companions, they resisted the RAB. Resistance should also be taken into consideration.'
Meanwhile, Limon Hossain, a college student from Jhalkathi, and his family members expressed their satisfaction with the news of the withdrawal of the case. He thinks that this proves that the allegations against him are not correct. Now he will get 'real justice' only if the accused RAB members are tried. Regarding RAB's case, Limon told reporters, "Since they have wronged me, they should be tried." I am not telling all the RABs, I want justice only for those who are involved in this.”
The chairman of the National Human Rights Commission has been trying for a long time to withdraw the two cases filed against Limon. Mizanur Rahman. In a press release sent by the commission on Tuesday, it is said that the state party has decided to withdraw the case based on the letter of 30 May, direct meeting and request of the chairman of the commission. The Home Minister himself called the commission chairman and told the matter. The commission applauded the government, especially the home minister for taking this decision.
Earlier on June 23, the Human Rights Commission chairman called Limon, his mother Henwara Begum and father Tofajzel Hossain to his office and spoke. At that time, he proposed to withdraw the case filed by Limon's mother against RAB against the withdrawal of the case filed by RAB. There was a storm of criticism in various circles.
It is to be noted that Limon, a resident of Saturia village of Rajapur upazila of Jhalkathi, went to fetch cows from the field near his house on the afternoon of March 23, 2011. On the way, a team of RAB-8 arrested him in front of the house of local martyr Jamaddar. At that time he introduced himself as an HSC candidate of Kathalia PGS Technical College. But one of the RAB members, without listening to Limon's words, stuck his weapon in his left leg and shot him. Later, doctors amputated his bullet-ridden left leg.
After this incident, the then Deputy Assistant Director (DAD) of RAB-8 Lutfar Rahman filed two cases against eight people including Limon in Rajapur police station. On the other hand, Limon's mother filed a case against six RAB members. But after the investigation, the police gave the final report (final report) of the case. Jhalkathi Magistrate's Court dismissed the appeal against this report. Later, Limon's mother Henwara Begum filed a revision in the judge's court against this order.
