The Dhaka Times Desk Saudi Arabia has rejected a proposal to manage the Hajj through an international committee, replacing the sole management of the Saudi government.
Khaled Al Faisal, adviser to the Saudi king and the head of Makkah city, told the media that the proposal to conduct the Hajj with the help of an international committee is unacceptable, such a proposal is not realistic. The Saudi government will never allow the Hajj to be transformed into a political gathering.
Some countries, including Iran, have been demanding the formation of an international committee to manage Hajj, alleging that Saudi Arabia is failing to properly manage Hajj.
The public opinion in favor of this demand has also increased due to various problems arising from the pilgrims of the countries in conflict with Saudi Arabia.
The entry and performance of Hajj by Qatari pilgrims has caused problems and various complications have arisen at various times with the citizens of Iran, Yemen and Libya. Apart from this, the Saudi government also bans the citizens of different countries from performing Hajj.
For that reason, for the past few years, many scholars in the Middle East, including Iran, Syria and Lebanon, have been demanding the performance of Hajj through international committees. However, the Saudi government has rejected the matter as an unacceptable proposal from the beginning.
The Saudi government has also expressed fear that the pilgrims of conflicting countries may protest against the Saudi government regarding the management of Hajj.
In this context, Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz has called upon the Muslims staying in Saudi Arabia to refrain from any kind of political or ideological activities.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has taken new measures to control Qatari citizens arriving for Hajj and Umrah.
It should be noted that from now Qatari citizens will have to register for Hajj through a system called 'Electronic Gates', according to a source from the Saudi authorities. In this case, only registered pilgrims will land at Jeddah Shah Abdul Aziz Airport and Madinah's Mohammad Bin Abdul Aziz International Airport, it said.
