In 2013, Australian scientists conducted a study. Researchers from Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIRO) and Kensington's Department of Science and Resource Engineering participated in the study.

The researchers examined the leaves, bark, and trunk of a eucalyptus tree above a gold mine in Australia. They found 80 ppb of gold in these samples. However, only 4 ppb of gold was found in the leaves of trees 200 meters away from the mine.

This matter was published in the journal Nature that year. It is said there that to get an early message without wasting time and environment by digging to determine whether there is a gold mine or not, it is possible to get the result only by examining the leaves of certain trees in the respective area.

According to the journal, this method will be effective not only for finding gold mines, but also for mining metals like bismuth and antimony.

It should be noted that the Australian mining company Marmota has already decided to explore for mines using this method. According to company officials, this method will be applied first experimentally at the Aurora tank site in South Australia under the jurisdiction of the company.
